Directing
In addition to beign an actor, Elena aspires to have a career in Directing. They are particularly drawn to the creation of new works exploring queer identity, and our communal obligations to each other, and dreams of building surreal, liminal spaces for audiences to engage with physically and emotionally.
Historically
Elena's budding career in directing began in high school, when she assistant directed a regiojnal production of Peter Pan, and continued on to further involvement in other regional productions, in TYA productions, and in college, on new works.
Now
This summer, Elena is studying Directing under Karen Kolhaas of the Atlantic Theatre Company. Instead of pursuing a graduate degree, elena is interested in learning from doing. They recently enjoyed working as a rehearsal PA for New York Theatre Company's production of MACHINAL, which is going up at NYCC in June. Their experiences as an actor have shown them the creative drive and focus that directing requires, and they are sensing a deep alignment with building a directing practice.
